MicroReader
is a universally versatile hand-held video microscope specially developed
to allow you to identify the color codes of SECUTAG® product
protection particles quickly and easily. Indeed, the range of applications
for the MicroReader go far beyond simply identifying SECUTAG®
codes and provide an exciting array of additional uses, particularly
in the examination of tiny structures often only measuring several µm.
Additional
external devices are unnecessary for using the MicroReader because illumination,
camera and electronics are integrated into the portable casing. The
MicroReaders power supply and video signal are combined into one single
cable linked to a computer or monitor. Since the MicroReader does not
require an external power supply it is highly portable allowing you
to use it while on the move in conjunction with a portable PC or laptop.
The
integrated dual magnification means that you can switch between a low
power magnification power of 75x, which is suitable for a general overview
of the object, and a very high power magnification of 650x which is
used to examine fine details. This eliminates the need for changing
objective lenses and saves you time. Naturally this is a significant
advantage to you. Using the low power, overview magnification level
you can quickly and easily locate the SECUTAG® particle on the
product. Once you have located the particle, simply switch to the high
power, detail magnification to read the code. The MicroReader features
a contact objective lens which can be set up directly on the product
to be examined. An interchangeable slide protects the MicroReader from
damage and also protects the product from contamination.
The
compact design of the MicroReader makes it one of the smallest and lightest
hand-held microscopes to feature integrated illumination and is simple
and reliable to use - and not just in mobile applications.
Applications
The MicroReader really proves its worth through the ease of use with
which you can read even the smallest SECUTAG® color codes and particles.
It is precisely for this type of application that the MicroReader was
developed. And what is more, there are other potential applications
for the unit making it a versatile and flexible analysis instrument.
These additional applications include, for example, surface analysis,
determin-ing grain sizes or the inspection of soldering points. The
technical possi-bilities of the MicroReader mean it is also destined
for use in securing of evidence and the examination of tiny microorganisms

User-specific
Software
MicroReader features our
own software developed to allow the clear and automatic evaluation
of SECUTAG® codes in a matter of seconds.
This is made possible through intelligent image processing. The
software can also be enhanced and modified for use in other areas.
MicroReader can also be supplied with a standard software application
to allow you to edit and manage the microscope images.
MicroReader is particularly suitable for use by customs personnel
and criminal investigators in cases where rapid inspection of product
protection codes is necessary. |

SECUTAG®
can be read with any kind of microscope, from a magnification of 40x.

Automatic readers
In the near future four groups of automatic SECUTAG®-CODE-READER
devices will be available for reading the colour codes.
a) A low-priced appliance, for small businesses. This reader is for
identifying cheque cards and credit cards. However, this device will
only recognize whether there is a SECUTAG®
mark or not.
b)
This is a module. This type is meant to be integrated into cash-point
systems, cash machines at banks, and for identifying cheque and credit
cards, even bank notes. It is a little cleverer however, since it can
recognize the credit institution in question!
c)
This group is already available as a prototype, and includes portable
readers. These devices may be used for the following purposes: - In
industry, for detecting product piracy, re-imports, and for avoiding
unjustified claims for compensation based on product liability etc.
- Use by the police and detectives for detecting forged documents as
to person, shipping documents of stolen cars and goods, and for clarifying
felonies/criminal offences, and for combatting crime in general. - Use
by the Customs etc., for detecting product piracy, stolen cars, or the
illicit cross-border traffic in goods; also other types of customs offence.
d)
This section contains a high-speed reading module operating at 80 code
identifications per second, and is incorporated into existing product
and processing machinery, as with group 2.
This
module can be used for the following purposes:
- In industrial production, so that each part to be protected will have
a readable code identification.
- The Federal Bank, the banks in general and in government printing,
for integration into securities counting machines, for recognizing genuine
securities.
- In printing houses, for inserting into printing and checking machines
that produce security labels and printed matter.
